I am passionate about using color, texture and pattern in my hand built pottery pieces. I often look for found objects to imprint on the clay, such as vintage buttons, and crochet doily’s. My background in Graphic Design has an influence on my work as well. Raised in Amman, Jordan by my Palestinian father and Scotch/Irish American mother, my cultural heritage plays a role in shaping my creative process. One element I bring into my work is Palestinian cross-stitch fabric which I use to imprint the designs on my pottery. The texture and patterns of the cross-stitch work carry deep cultural significance, and by incorporating them into my pieces, I preserve and honor those traditions in a contemporary way.
