Kevin Dunn
Painting, Mixed Media, Drawing
My current work centers on painting faces, focusing not on specific individuals but on the universality of human expression. I resist using the term 'portrait,' as these works are not meant to depict particular people. Instead, I aim to revive the Dutch Baroque term 'tronie'—a term for faces that convey character and emotion without anchoring to a specific identity. Through these paintings, I strive to create universal icons that resonate with the human experience.
I hold a BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art, majoring in painting and drawing, and minoring in printmaking. I went on to further study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, major in painting. My work is in the homes of multiple patrons and has sold on-line, at https://www.dailypaintworks.com/Artists/kevin-james-dunn-11802
