Terri St.Arnauld - Platinum Portraits & Fine Art Photography
Photography
I have been interested in photography since adolescence and started studying it in 1980. Classes, workshops and seminars have been interspersed with a mostly self-paced study, and what began as an occasional interest has evolved to an integral part of my life – incorporated into work, free time and planned vacations. My work is predominantly hand-printed black & white or platinum, printed from negatives, processed completely by me in my Austin studio. Earlier work was processed jointly with my husband Frank Yezer. During that time, we developed our own formula for making platinum prints. In more recent years, I have incorporated digital work into my collection and come up with a way to weave two platinum prints. Enjoyment of visually studying people and places, and the creative expression that photography allows while doing this, feeds my soul. I enjoy taking something inconsequential and showing you how interesting it can be.
A love of travel has inspired much of my work, even when it is done at home. When I look hard enough, I always find something new. I have previously exhibited in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Abilene, Clifton, and Ft. Worth, in Texas, Boulder, Colorado and in New York, New York. My work has been selected for various group exhibitions since 1997, as part of a four-person exhibition in 2003, and a salon show with Frank in 2008. I curated, with Frank, an exhibition of historic photographic processes that showed in Austin and Houston, TX. My work is in the collection of the UT – Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, and various private collections in the US and other countries.
