Painting, Ceramics

To Play. To Dream. To Explore. To Imagine. To Work. To See. To Nurture. To Grow. To Love. Since the age of three, I have known what I wanted to do. In the last third of my life, I have returned to the world of a child. My deepest desire is to create, and the studio has become a playground where each bowl, each drawing, and each painting stands complete in itself. A single train of thought weaves through an entire piece, independent of my other work. The center of my life has always been the arts: painting, drawing, printmaking, and ceramics.

Experimentation led me to teach drawing and painting and explore British Literature and writing at St. Joseph Academy in Brownsville, Texas, for 17 years. During that time, the opening of the border with Mexico allowed me to travel into Latin America, where I drew and painted among indigenous peoples along the “Maya Trail.” In 1988, I received a National Endowment Grant to study at the University of Pennsylvania, where I had an easel at the Philadelphia Art Museum. My first of three one-man shows was in Brownsville in 1989, the second in Austin, and the third in San Miguel de Allende,
